A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.
Police stated that they received a report about a 13-year-old girl getting sexually abused in an island in the jurisdiction of the South Police Division (GA. Atoll, GDh. Atoll, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City) on the 12th of this month.
In cases of child abuse, the Police do not disclose certain details, including the island where the crime took place, in order to protect the identity of child victims.
Regarding this case, a 33-year-old man was arrested on the 13th of this month under a court order. The man was remanded in custody for 30 days.
The Police said that further investigation is underway.
