The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has said that the final list of qualifiers for land and flats in Male’ Region will be published this month.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pledged during his presidential campaign to distribute free-of-cost land-plots for living among other purposes for Male’ residents in Male’ region.
His government will allocate at least a thousand land plots from Hulhumale’, two-thousand plots from Gulheefalhu for the purpose.
Moreover, President Solih earlier told reporters that there would be a land reclamation project in Giraavarufalhu towards addressing the unusually high demand for housing in Male’ area.
Thousands of residents from Male’ applied for land plots and flats when the government began receiving applications last year. The Housing ministry have spent months evaluating the applications.
An official from the ministry told us that they are getting ready to publish the final list of qualifiers before Eid Holidays.
Earlier the ministry said that when they concluded accepting applications for land plots and flats, a total of 35,861 applicants had made to the list. The said number, incudes 15, 164 applications for land plots and 14,489 applications for three and two room flats.
The government’s evaluation of applications was overseen by a special committee set up for the task.
