Jumhooree Party (JP), headed by MP Qasim Ibrahim, JP-Maamigili Constituency, concluded official endorsement of the leader for the party’s presidential bid on Friday at Carnival Square, Male’, pledging the people that they will enjoy better lives under a JP government.

Attended by hundreds, JP’s presidential ticket was presented to Qasim in the rally. Speaking in the colorful presentation ceremony, Qasim said that the people of the country are once again in need of many reforms.

He said that if elected for office in the presidential election set for September 9, he would make better breathing available for the people. He urged the people to vote for him on September 9.

Qasim said that since 2008, he has been backing others to the top post in the country in the interest of the people. However, when those who he had backed took offices, they did not deliver on their promises.

He said that if elected he would form a merit-based government that perform. Elsewhere, in his endorsement-acceptance speech, he said that he would revolutionize the country’s economy increasing the GDP manifolds. He also said that he would nurture new entrepreneurs and make 100 among them millionaires in five years.

In his vision for the Maldivian economy, he said that business hubs will be established in the far North and South, both connected well.

He also said that, in his revolutionary moves, he would improve on the debt to GDP ratio significantly.

“Reducing debts and managing them smartly will be through increased revenues from new sources. The country will be taken into a financially better place”, said Qasim.

Qasim said that his government will be oriented towards serving the nation, not reserved for just a few or for simply men and women from certain political affiliations alone.

“In my government nobody will be left behind”, Qasim promised.
