Ruling MDP, in a statement, has said that yesterday’s sitting of the People’s Majlis was disrupted by opposition parliamentarians and hence concluded as the Chair had allowed them to do so through their no-stop protests in the chamber.

MDP in the statement said that the party was concerned as the sitting was concluded amid protests in the chamber while significant matters were in the agenda for the day’s business.

MDP blamed the Chair, MP Hassan Afeef, The Democrats (a political party in the formation process) – Vilufushee Constituency, for allowing the protests to continue and finally the sitting to be aborted in its infancy.

Also, MDP blamed Afeef, who, according to the statement, concluded yesterday’s sitting while breaching parliamentary rules.

Concluding the statement, MDP urged the Secretariat of the People’s Majlis to figure out ways to end the ongoing stalemate and facilitate resumption of orderly business in the parliament.
