The government has denied allegations and rumors that MPs influence in finalizing lists - expected to be published soon, of qualifiers for flats - developed under social housing projects and financed by public funds, and land plots.

The government’s denial came amid speculations that the lists of recipients of flats and land plots are finalized and published with undue influence from ruling MDP’s parliamentarians.

According to the speculations, MPs decide who, among their constituents, will receive flats and land plots under the government’s housing schemes.

An official who declined to be named, from the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure told Ras.mv that the allegations are baseless.

He also said that there is zero chance for anyone, including MPs, in influencing the lists at any stage.
