The opposition Progressive Coalition has demanded the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to appear before parliament.

In a letter sent to the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed Nasheed, the opposition Progressive Coalition's PG leader, Eydhafushi constituency MP Ahmed Salim said that there are alot of questions to the President Solih from the people, and that he should be brought at the Parliament to address those important questions, which are essential to protect the interests of the people and establish stability in the country, the letter said.

He also said that no article of the Constitution or any article of the Rules of Parliament states that the President cannot be summoned to Parliament. Therefore President should be able to appear at the Parliament to address the concerns from the people.

The opposition requested that the President be summoned to Parliament as soon as the work of the Parliament commences and that he be able to answer questions sent by the opposition members in the Parliament.

According to reports, the opposition MP's has sent 10 questions to the parliament. These questions were regarding the maritime border dispute, Uthuru Thilafalhu and Hanimaadhoo airport, the money allegedly obtained from former Vice President Adheeb and a question relating Minister Mahloof.
