Tourist arrivals exceed 0.9 million mark as the year enters into its seventh month, says the Ministry of Tourism.

According to the ministry, by June 28, a total of 920,156 tourists arrived in the Maldives compared to 805,995 holidaymakers visiting the country in the same period of the previous year. This is a 14.2 percentage-point increase in arrivals compared to last year.

So far, the arrival figure for this year is dominated by Indians, Russians and Britons according to published statistics of the ministry.

Tourists spend an average of seven bed-nights in Maldives. The ministry’s arrival-target for the whole year this year is 1.8 million.

Last year, 1.6 million holidaymakers visited Maldives according to the ministry.
