Ahmed Thorig, Parliament member from opposition PPM, has called The Democrats to support former President Yameen as a Presidential Candidate.

He stated this in response to former President Nasheed's announcement during the inauguration ceremony of The Democrats, the political party which is lead by Nasheed and his supporters. In his announcement, Nasheed invited the former President Yameen to nominate a joint candidate and to work together to win the upcoming presidential elections.

Following the invitation, there has been a sharp difference of opinion between the opposition PPM and President Nasheed's The Democrats. Many members of PPM has expressed disagreement for Nasheed's invitation. The PPM firmly supports none other than Yameen as a Presidential Candidate.

In response to Nasheed's invitation, in a tweet MP Thorig suggested that there is only one formula to win the elections in one round. Which is to support Yameen as a Presidential candidate. He then invited the Democrats to support him as well.

However, it's highly unlikely the Democrats to support Yameen and give him another chance to rule the nation.

According to reports, there's little or no chance for Yameen to escape imprisonment, as well as contest in the upcoming Presidential elections.
