Islamic religious scholar Dr. Mohamed Iyaz alleges that the opponents of the present government are employing a propaganda tactic of “repeating a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”.

Dr. Iyaz said that the opponents of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government are hurling falsehoods, non-stop, against the administration accusing it of widespread corruption.

“But the people do not consume the spins of the opposition with Allah’s Mercy as they are firmly placed on an undefeatable awareness that segregate the lie and the truth”, tweeted Dr Iyaz.

Dr. Iyaz’s defense of President Solih’s government was in response to a statement made by the leader of The Democrats and the Speaker of the People’s Majlis Mohamed Nasheed where he said that his departure from the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) was in protest of mounting corruption within the present administration.

The comments were made at the opening of a political rally house of The Democrats in capital Male’ called “The House of The Democrats”.

Recently Dr. Iyaz warned the public that if the collective opposition were elected to office in the presidential vote in September, “it will be a great danger (to the nation)”. In his warning, he also said that nobody wished to return to the painful insecurity of the past.
