Incumbent Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that he is interested in becoming the running mate of the MDP presidential candidate and incumbent President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih in the upcoming presidential election.
The Vice President said this while speaking on local TV.
Faisal said he has expressed interest in becoming the President's running mate. However, he did not make any conditions or demands from the President or the government for that, he said. The President will decide on this and he will respect his decision, he said.
He said he was interested in becoming the President's running mate because he wanted an opportunity to continue what he had started as Vice President.
Faisal Naseem is the first Vice President to come so close to completing a term since the establishment of Maldives's multi-party system.
