The Ministry of Education says that the new academic year will begin on August 6 without any shortage of managers, educators, or teachers.

The ministry said that “the recruitment process to fill vacant positions is still ongoing”. According to officials, 14 expatriate principals (school managers) are already reporting to work at disparate schools across the country.

The Ministry of Education launched its expatriate recruitment campaign for the new academic year in March 2023.

Officials in the ministry are confident that they will achieve the target of filling all vacant positions before the start of the new educational calendar.

"The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) is verifying educational certificates of expatriate educators presently as part of the country-wide exercise in preparations for the new year," officials told local media.

In addition to eliminating vacancies in the school system before August 6, officials are dispatching textbooks to all schools across the country. According to officials, there will be no shortage of textbooks at schools by July 31.

Officials say that Malé-Area will witness the inauguration of three brand-new schools at the start of the new academic calendar in August.

The three new schools are 1. Salahudeen School in Hulhumalé Phase Two, 2. an extension building of the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Hulhumalé Phase One, and 3. the New School Building of Dharumavantha School in Malé.
