Ali Waheed - former Minister of Tourism in the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, says that Jumhooree Party’s leader MP Qasim Ibrahim excels in his national service records over all other candidates contesting in the race.

Touring Ari Atoll South as part of MP Qasim’s presidential campaign, Ali told an audience in Maamigili where JP’s leader was born, that to change and protect the Maldives “a solemn determination is required”.

“This determination led us to choose MP Qasim as our presidential nominee”, said Ali.

Ali also said that MP Qasim surpasses all other political leaders with regard to his national service records. Ali said that MP Qasim was dignified by the State at the highest level.

Ali said that to date, political and other reforms that began in the early 2000s received US$ 200 million from the personal wealth of MP Qasim.

“Why should we vote for ‘L board’ leaders while we’ve got a person qualified for the top job?”, Ali asked the audience sarcastically.

Ali promised the participants of the rally that those who rebelled against the State would be pursued with appropriate corrective measures and that a government formed by JP would preempt such behaviors.

“Nobody will rebel against the State in a government that JP runs. I’m talking about the danger area on a soccer pitch. We’ll cut the striker who enters the penalty zone to his size whether he is the president or anybody with whatever fat portfolio. Nobody can enter the danger zone whether it is a big national entity or just a little foreign party”, said Ali.

Ali Waheed promised the audience that if JP is voted to office, the government will restore any piece or part that the country had lost with regard to its national boundary.
