Special Adviser of Jumhooree Party (JP) and former Minister of Health Iruthisham Adam says that if elected to office in the September 9 presidential election, her party’s leader MP Qasim Ibrahim would prove to the public that he is the best person in solving problems related to the national health insurance scheme and access to medical care.

Speaking in a panel discussion, Adam said that MP Qasim always receives complaints from the public who have problems obtaining appropriate medical care. MP Qasim is well-known throughout the country for his humanitarian activities that he started decades ago. “This is the reason why the public passes their grievances to MP Qasim when they have trouble accessing proper medical care”, said Adam.

She said that if the people decide to elect JP to office, obstacles to accessing proper medical care would be neutralized.

“The budget for (Husnuvaa - inexhaustible) Aasandha (the national health insurance scheme) is very fat. The funds are mismanaged leading to corruption that sidelines thousands who need medical care”, said Adam.

Adam said that in a government formed by JP, everybody who needs medical care would be taken seriously. Also, she said that her party’s policy is not based on micromanaging but on fixing the whole medical system in the country at a macro level.
