The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula vowed on Thursday to hold ground with her husband MP Qasim Ibrahim amid threats and intimidations.

In addition to her ministerial portfolio, she is one of the deputy leaders of presidential candidate MP Qasim’s Jumhooree Party.

She made the statement addressing a rally held in Malé City’s Hulhumalé Phase-2 district by Jumhooree Party.

She defended MP Qasim in the rally issuing verbal attacks against political opponents of her husband.

Describing her husband as a visionary, she said that if elected to office MP Qasim would achieve developments in multiple sectors and fields. She also said that her husband, even though is a hands-on businessman, would seek expert advice and skills in achieving the developments.

“He would not rely solely on his knowledge and experience. But he will seek world-class advice and skills in developing the nation”, said Nahula.

Minister Nahula also said that a ruthless campaign is being conducted on social media platforms to discredit her husband. She said that the intention of the people behind the ruthless campaign was to restrict her husband from reaching the hearts and minds of the country’s young generations.

“Even if a jewel is mud-caked, its essence will remain the same”, said Nahula ending her speech at the rally.
