President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the government will not interfere in the work of the Parliament.

The President stated this in response to the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed, who has accused MDP of trying to stop the work of the Parliament. According to Nasheed, the government is also very involved in it.

Speaking to reporters during a door-to-door campaign event in the city today, President Solig said the allegations that he was involved in obstructing the work of Parliament were not true, and he had not done such a thing.

President said the Parliament is a separate power, and he has spent many years in Parliament and knows how things should work.

"I know how things are in Parliament. I know what is happening in Parliament. I certainly don't get involved," he said.

President Nasheed accused the government of trying to influence the work of the Parliament, as today's quorum did not meet by the time to start the session. President Nasheed also called President Solih to take responsibility for not meeting the required quorum on time.
