Dr. Mohammed Muizzu's victory in the presidential election has been acknowledged by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who extended his heartfelt congratulations today.

In his message welcoming and congratulating Dr. Muizzu, Prime Minister Modi assured India's continued support to strengthen the relationship between India and the Maldives.



Meanwhile, the PPM/PNC coalition to which Muizzu belongs has been running a powerful and unyielding campaign against the presence of Indian troops in the Maldives under the name of "India Out". It was a campaign led by former President Yameen calling to expel the Indian military from the Maldives.

The Mayor of the City of Male'. Mohammed Muizzu won the presidential election against President Solih in the second round with 129159 votes. He received 54.04 percent of the vote. The MDP presidential candidate, President Solih, received 109868 votes. That's 45.96 percent of the vote.
