The Government of the Republic of Maldives has strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent Palestinians.

Attacks on hospitals and civilian infrastructures, targeting civilians are unacceptable and are in explicit contravention of international humanitarian law.

In a statement condemning the attack, the Government of Maldives reiterated its call on the international community to use all possible measures to stop the inhumane attacks against innocent Palestinians and urge the international community to expediate the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate delivery of medicines, food supplies and basic needs to the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestinian officials, nearly 500 people have been killed in an Israeli air attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The health ministry in Gaza said the blast at the hospital was caused by an Israeli air raid. Israel has attributed the explosion to a misfired rocket launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) armed group. The PIJ has denied the allegation.
