The Office of the President-elect has expressed concern that Urbanco is working to complete business transactions involving land in Hulhumale'.

The Office of the President-elect said in a statement that 40 different items related to various transactions have been agendaed for the next meeting of the Urbanco Board as part of the transitional phase of the change of government.

The statement said the Office of the President-elect is concerned about conducting business transactions in a hurry at this stage, while the lands in Hulhumale' are the most valuable assets in the capital of the Maldivian state. The statement also expressed further concern that these transactions include land leases to foreign parties.

"This will hamper the implementation of the policies of the new government, and the entire state will suffer. Therefore, I urge all agencies, institutions, and companies to suspend such transactions at this stage and act in the spirit of the transitional phase." The statement reads.

The statement assured that the necessary efforts will be made through the legal system to prevent such incidents and protect the highest interests of the people.
