Upon a request from MDP, a session of the Parliament is scheduled to be held tomorrow, although Parliament sessions are not held on Thursday.

MDP Parliamentary Group Leader and Hithadhoo North constituency Parliament member Mohammed Aslam said that according to the rules of the House, a motion of no confidence against the Speaker of the House can be held on any day other than a public holiday. So, although tomorrow is Thursday, a Parliament session can be held tomorrow as it is not an official public holiday,

The parliamentary office has confirmed that tomorrow's session will be held as requested by MDP. The no-confidence motion was also put on the agenda for tomorrow.

According to the rules of the House, the Vice-Speaker of the House shall preside over a motion of no confidence against the Speaker. However, so far, the matter has not been taken up because the Vice-Speaker of Parliament has called in sick.

In connection with this matter, the MDP has now filed a petition in the Supreme Court as well.
