The government will pay full attention to Victory Day from next year, says President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

In his message of felicitations on Victory Day to the people of the Maldives, Dr. Muizzu said it is important to revive the remembrance of Victory Day and provide information about the day, especially to the youth.

Therefore, from 2024 onwards, the government will pay full attention to Victory Day, he said.

Victory Day in Maldives is marked on November 3, of each year. The day celebrates the victory of the Government of Maldives over the coup d’etat by a militant group called the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) in 1988.

The November 3, 1988, invasion of the Maldives was one of the most dangerous, terrible, and devastating attacks in the history of the country.
