Parliament member for Addu Meedhoo constituency Rozaina Adam has accused Parliament Speaker of trying to intimidate female MPs, even when there are few women as members of Parliament.
Rozaina expressed her concern over a remark by the Speaker of Parliament Nasheed, attributed to Hinnavaru constituency MP Jeehan Mahmood.
Jihan was elected as the Chairman of the IPU Human Rights Committee today. Rozaina congratulated Jihan in the WhatsApp group of MPs. However, Rozaina’s congratulatory message was followed by a threatening message from President Nasheed.
President Nasheed’s message said all MDP members would be removed from positions in places like the IPU and that he would assure MDP members to be prohibited from visiting other foreign countries.
Nasheed said the losing Presidency will be small for MDP considering what is yet to come.
