Parliament member for Hithadhoo North constituency, Mohamed Aslam has been elected for the post of Speaker of the Parliament.

MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Mohammed Aslam was elected by secret ballot among the members of the Parliament held tonight.

Aslam was elected as the Speaker of the House with 53 votes. Aslam’s opponent, MP Ali Azim was defeated with 23 votes.
