Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeg has stated that the government aims to complete the projects started so far.

He made the statement speaking at the budget debate in the House of Representatives today. Shafeeg said the government aims to complete the projects started by the previous government. At the same time, the budget for next year will include MVR 1.5 billion for 458 projects that the new government has given top priority, said Minister Shafeeg.

"The aim is to complete the projects started so far. However, there are challenges in managing the cash flow of the government for the next six months," he said.

The minister said that if the funds are not received as planned, there will be challenges in implementing the budget. However, the new government has already started raising funds for the budget and has started formulating a plan to act if the funds are not received, said Minister Shafeeg.

The government has proposed a budget of MVR 49.4 billion for next year. The budget estimates revenue at around MVR 34 billion. Former Finance Minister Ameer said the budget was a deficit of MVR 13 billion.

The current finance minister, Dr. Mohamed Shafeeg, told the Budget Committee that MVR 1.5 billion has been added to the budget to implement the projects implemented by the new government. The government wants to add more than that amount to the budget, but it is not possible given the current situation, said Minister Shafeeg.
