Ahmed Saleem (Salle), has been elected as the vice-president of the House of Representatives.
The post of Vice-President of the Parliament became vacant following the resignation of the incumbent.
MP Saleem was elected by 51 votes in a secret ballot to appoint a Vice-Speaker of the Parliament. His opponent, Abdullah Jabir, got 23 votes.
After winning the election, the new Vice President Ahmed Saleem said the vote showed that the MDP is a democratic party. The vote shows that everyone can make progress in the party, he said.
MP Saleem thanked all the members of the MDP parliamentary group in the session held tonight.
