Former Vice-President of the Parliament (Reeko) Moosa Manik has said that Parliament members have the right to approve or not approve ministers.

Reeko made the statement while the Parliamentary Committee on the Performance of Government Accountability had decided to take the vote of approval of the cabinet ministers of President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu individually.

In response, Reeko Moosa said it was irresponsible to describe the committee's decision to approve the ministers separately as an intimidation of the government. Members have the right to approve or not approve ministers, he said.

According to Reeko, ministers cannot be approved by force, and MPs will evaluate them based on their performance in important areas. Therefore, Moosa suggests that the best approach is to express opinions on individual ministers and approve them accordingly.

"The MDP will not overthrow the government. They will, however, hold the government accountable. Members should have a way to hold the government accountable," said Reeko Moosa (loosely translated).

Meanwhile, the opposition MDP is discussing not approving some of the ministers in the government's cabinet. MDP members are especially calling not to approve the Housing Minister.
