The Maldives plans to celebrate the New Year with a special festival named 'Dhivehinge Raajje' and a fireworks display.
The government announced this at a press conference held by the Youth Ministry today.
According to the ministry, a music show is held in the Maldives every year to celebrate the New Year, however, this year, a laser show is also planned to accompany the music show. The special celebration festival will commence with a fireworks display.
In addition to the festival, there will be a special family evening for children on the 31st of this month, said the Youth Minister. The government has invited all the people of Maldives to the "Dhivehinge Raajje" Festival.
In the past years, foreign artists have been invited to perform in the Maldives to celebrate the New Year, but only local artists will be performing at the New Year's festival this year, said Youth Minister.
