Parliament member Ibrahim Shareef said that if Parliament member Abdulla Jabir pays his debt he owes to the government will help to overcome the financial constraints in the proposed budget for 2021.


Speaking during the budget debate at the recent parliament sitting, MP Shareef made his statement in regards to the suggestion by MP Jabir to tell government assets to overcome the financial constraints in the proposed budget for 2021. In reply to MP Jabir, MP Shareef has said that there are many ways to overcome the financial constraints in the proposed budget than selling government assets, and one of which would help is MP Jabir paying his debt he owes to the government.


“MP Jabir has suggested many ways, but if he pays the government the pending money he owes for rent and the fine he owes for not paying the duly rent, it can cover up to 10% of the deficit in the proposed budget. The parliament should not agree to sell the government assets,” said MP Shareef.


Further speaking, Shareef highlighted that without selling assets, there are ways to implement the projects in the proposed budget. He also added that the tourism industry is expected to achieve more than estimated in the upcoming year, which will support hugely to overcome the financial constraints in the proposed budget for 2021.
