The development of seven urban centers in the Maldives, including Ungoofaaru island, has been given special attention, stated President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The President said this during a meeting with the residents of Ungoofaaru Island earlier today.

Addressing the gathering, President Muizzu emphasized the significance of focusing on the medium and long-term development of the country. He outlined plans for the establishment of an Integrated Development Zone in the four northernmost provinces, another in the four southernmost provinces, and the development of seven urban centers across the nation.

During the meeting, the President underscored the government's commitment to addressing key concerns raised by the Council. He highlighted efforts to bolster the economy and introduce a soft loan scheme aimed at providing a lasting solution to the housing issue. Additionally, President Muizzu discussed ongoing initiatives in social housing and emphasized the importance of various developmental aspects such as sports, infrastructure, and social welfare.

Ungoofaaru island marks the third stop of President Muizzu's three-day visit to several islands in the North and South Maalhosmadulu Atoll. The visit signifies the government's dedication to engaging with local communities and understanding their needs firsthand to foster inclusive development across the nation.
