Fathimath Thaufeeq has been dismissed from her position as CEO and Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). Fathimath Thaufeeq, who was appointed on December 17 last year, was at the helm of the organization responsible for promoting Maldivian tourism on the international stage.

Fathimath Thaufeeq’s dismissal comes on the heels of significant upheaval within the MMPRC's leadership. The company’s Chairman, Nurain Janah, resigned just yesterday, citing concerns about the company's direction. In her resignation letter, Nurain alleged that the managing director was exceeding budget limits and disregarding board recommendations, suggesting that the organization was not on the right path.

In addition to Nurain’s departure, Raafil, who represented the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) on the MMPRC board, also resigned. This wave of resignations and Thaufeeq’s sacking highlights a period of instability and internal conflict within the organization.

The MMPRC was established to bolster Maldives’s presence in the global tourism market.
