President Mohamed Muizzu met with Mr. Ambroise Fayolle, Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4). The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and the EIB.

President Dr. Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support from the EIB and reaffirmed his Administration's commitment to strengthening the long-standing ties between the Maldives and the Bank. He emphasized the importance of this relationship in addressing the unique challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The President discussed potential avenues for cooperation to finance climate-resilient infrastructure projects. These include the construction of seawalls, shore protection measures, advanced water management systems, and renewable energy initiatives, all aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The meeting concluded with both parties exchanging views on renewable energy, climate mitigation, and adaptation strategies. This dialogue underscores the shared commitment to fostering sustainable development and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
