Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in the Maldives this evening for an official visit. Jaishankar was warmly received with a red carpet welcome at Velana International Airport by Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

During his three-day visit, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold discussions with President Dr. Muizzu and Foreign Minister Zameer. The talks will focus on reviewing current bilateral relations and furthering cooperation between the two nations.



Jaishankar will also officially inaugurate several projects under the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) and line of credit from Exim Bank of India. Additionally, the two countries are set to sign agreements related to capacity building, trade, and other areas, as confirmed by the Maldivian Foreign Ministry.

This visit marks the first time a high-ranking Indian official has traveled to the Maldives since President Muizzu assumed office, underscoring the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries.
