The Maldives has deported more than 3,000 illegal immigrants, according to recent reports. From November 17 last year through the 25th of this month, 3,322 foreigners have been sent back to their countries of origin.
Immigration authorities have conducted raids at 257 locations to address the issue. They noted that while there are numerous sources of information regarding illegal immigration, current laws do not fully address these challenges. Consequently, the Maldives Immigration and Police are collaborating closely to identify and apprehend illegal immigrants.
The government is also treating the involvement of foreigners in illegal businesses within the Maldives as a serious concern. This comprehensive approach reflects ongoing efforts to manage and mitigate issues related to illegal immigration and unauthorized business activities.
