Heena Waleed, Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, announced today that the Maldives is preparing to introduce bunkering services for the first time.
The announcement came during a press conference held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
Waleed detailed that the State Trading Organisation (STO), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade are collaborating to bring the necessary vessels for bunkering services to the country.
The initiative aims to establish these services within the government’s first year in office, as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s broader agenda, which includes revitalizing good behavioral values among Maldivians.
