Police have successfully recovered MVR 10,700 following a hacking incident involving a man's Viber and Facebook accounts.
The accounts were reportedly seized by hackers, who used them to send messages in his name and solicit money from various individuals.
A joint operation conducted by the Henveiru Police and the Cyber Center led to the recovery of the funds within six hours. The operation identified the owners of three accounts where the money had been deposited, resulting in the recovery of the total amount.
In addition to the recovered cash, police also confiscated ATM deposit slips, cash cards, and SIM cards from Dhiraagu and Ooredoo from an apartment in the city.
No arrests have been made in connection with the hacking incident, and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
