Maldivians traveling to the United Kingdom will now be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) due to new UK immigration rules. The UK has informed the Maldives that citizens of 49 countries, including the Maldives, will be eligible to apply for the ETA by November 27, 2024. From January 8, 2025, travelers must have an approved ETA before entering the UK.
According to the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives, the ETA, which costs £10, is valid for two years and allows multiple visits to the UK, with each stay capped at six months. Travelers must ensure their ETA is approved before departure to avoid issues at entry.
