President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the importance of Maldives-China cooperation during a meeting with His Excellency Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs of China. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed his appreciation for China’s continued support in key areas, particularly in the development of the Maldives’ tourism sector. He highlighted ongoing projects between the two nations and reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to further strengthening their relationship.

Wang Yi, in response, reiterated China’s commitment to supporting the Maldives in various areas of collaboration. Both leaders also discussed the importance of addressing shared global challenges, such as climate change, and agreed on the need for sustained cooperation in tackling these pressing issues.



President Muizzu is attending the 79th UNGA session, where global leaders are convening to discuss international concerns and strategies for the future.
