In a concerted effort to combat illegal immigration, the Immigration Department of the Maldives has arrested 16 foreigners in a two-day operation aimed at detaining undocumented workers.

The operations took place on September 24 and 25 at six cafes and hotels located in Phase One of Hulhumale'.

During these raids, officials discovered that three of the establishments were operating without the necessary permits, leading to the issuance of notices against them.

The Immigration Department has reported that a total of 4,054 illegal immigrants have been deported over the past ten months, underscoring the government's intensified focus on tackling illegal foreign workers in the Maldives. This recent operation reflects a continued commitment to ensuring legal compliance and safeguarding local employment.
