President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has identified housing shortages and congestion as primary contributors to social problems. He made this statement while addressing the residents of Rasmadhoo during his visit to northern islands in the Maalhosmadulu region.

During the meeting, President Muizzu emphasized that addressing housing challenges is a top priority for the government, as reflected in this year’s budget. He announced plans to launch a housing unit project to alleviate the issue and improve living conditions in the area.

Acknowledging ongoing challenges, the President pledged to address stalled development projects, including the delayed water system. He explained that the contractor responsible for the project had halted work in several villages except for Rasmadhoo but assured residents that efforts are underway to resume and complete the initiative.

Regarding education, the President stated that the government will evaluate the current state of the school in Rasmadhoo and take necessary steps to enhance its facilities.

In the areas of sports and health, he revealed plans to expand the village health center by adding a laboratory and improving existing facilities. Additionally, he committed to providing better infrastructure for sports to promote recreational activities.

The President also announced the establishment of a police station in Rasmadhoo, turning the island into a hub for police services in the area, which he said would enhance safety and security.

These initiatives form part of the government’s broader strategy to address pressing community needs and improve the quality of life for residents in Rasmadhoo and nearby islands.
