The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been called to assist in the investigation of Zakiyya Moosa’s death, which occurred under mysterious circumstances in N. Holhudhoo island.

The Maldives Police Service announced on Thursday that the FBI is collaborating to examine the case, which has raised numerous questions since Zakiyya, 50, was found dead on September 10 last year. Her body was discovered with severe injuries in a warehouse near the kitchen of her residence.

According to the police, a senior investigation team has been dispatched to coordinate with the FBI, reviewing previous findings and conducting further inquiries. A briefing on the investigation's progress has already been provided to the FBI team.

In a recent press conference, the Maldives Police stated that no definitive evidence has emerged to suggest foul play. They reported the absence of any signs of struggle or external injuries caused by another individual.

The police are continuing to analyze fingerprints on a knife found at the scene and emphasized that no blood was detected on Zakiyya's clothing.

Zakiyya was reportedly struggling with depression at the time of her death, leading to speculation about suicide. However, authorities have not ruled out other possibilities, and the investigation remains active.

The case has garnered widespread attention, with the public and authorities awaiting further updates as the joint effort between the Maldives Police and the FBI progresses.
