Former MP and former MDP Chairperson, Maria Ahmed Didi, has issued a stern warning to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, urging him to heed the will of the people or face severe consequences.

Maria emphasized the need for the government to address key issues facing the public, particularly by providing the Aasandha health scheme to the people and ensuring that fishermen can continue their livelihoods without hindrances. She stressed that President Muizzu must govern with transparency and integrity, particularly when using taxpayers' money.

She further stated that on the 31st of this month, a collective effort will be made to advise President Muizzu to align his governance with the people’s desires. If he fails to do so, she warned that the consequences could be dire.

In her criticism of the current government, Maria accused President Muizzu of making excuses and belittling the people. She expressed concern over the political climate, likening the situation to growing authoritarianism, specifically noting that the Maldives was evolving into something akin to North Korea.

Maria also pointed out that the prevailing sentiment on the streets is one of widespread discontent, with many people calling for a change in government.
