The local man who passed away this Sunday evening is the 53rd death reported from Covid-19 complications in the Maldives.
The 70-year-old man was admitted to Dharumavantha Hospital for further treatment to Covid-19, while he passed away at 03:42 pm on this Wednesday. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirms that this would be the 53rd Covid-19 death from the Maldives.
Maldives reported the first death to Covid-19 on April 29 last year. As per the statistics, a total of 46 locals and 07 foreigners have passed away from Covid-19 complications.
So far, over 16,000 cases have been reported positive to Covid-19 in the Maldives, out of which, over 14,000 infected people have been recovered.
