His Excellency Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, meets with the Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Mohamed Nasheed.
During the meeting held today afternoon, both the Minister and the speaker spoke on different concerning issues and bilateral interests between the two countries.
Following the meeting, Nasheed shared that discussions were held on a range of issues, including climate change, sustainable fishing, and the Indian Ocean stability.
Speaking about the meeting, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated that he was delighted to meet the Speaker of the parliament, Mohamed Nasheed.
“Nasheed told me that building democracy was the big project in the Maldives. And that India is a valuable development assistance partner,” said Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in his tweet.
During his visit, the Minister of External Affairs of India inaugurated some projects undertaken with Indian grant assistance and witnessed the exchange of several Agreements and MoUs between two countries. The Minister of External Affairs is visiting the Maldives at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid. This is his second visit to the Maldives in his capacity as the Minister of External Affairs of India.
