Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has called on the public to avoid inappropriate behavior and misconduct in the name of traditional activities during Eid celebrations.
This year’s Eid al-Adha is being marked with vibrant festivities across the country. However, some activities have drawn criticism on social media for straying from social and religious norms.
In a Facebook post, the minister said Eid is one of the noblest days blessed by Allah to the Muslim Ummah and is closely associated with the greatest acts of worship in Islam. While he noted that playing traditional sports during Eid is not a problem, he urged Muslims to refrain from evil and misconduct in the name of such activities.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, along with other government ministries, has urged the public to plan Eid events in a manner that respects Islamic values and adheres to accepted social standards.
