Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that mosques will not be opened with political influence, emphasizing their role as spiritual centers.

Speaking to Parliament today, Dr. Shaheem said, “There is no intention of carrying out these activities with too much political colour.” He added that the opening of mosques, including the one under construction since March 22, 2022, will be conducted in a sacred manner.

While he did not directly confirm whether the Maradhoo mosque would be inaugurated during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's scheduled visit to Addu City later this month, the minister assured that it will be officially opened soon.
