The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has made changes to its new campaign guidelines, followed by a public backlash.
The campaign guidelines were published yesterday, to ensure protective measures are taken while campaigning for the upcoming Local Council Elections. The guidelines allowed quarantine-less travel between islands for local council campaigning.
As per the guidelines, HPA allowed a maximum of 5 people together to travel between islands for campaigning for up to 5 days without quarantine. If traveling more than 5 days, HPA advised on quarantining for 10 days. HPA stated that anyone traveling to a campaign cannot go door-to-door and avoid public mass gatherings.
HPA reverted back its decisions even before 24 hours to the guidelines. HPA also faced huge criticism for the decision.
