On this Saturday, Maldives has reached the milestone of half a million tourist arrival for the year.
As per statistics, on this Friday, Maldives has recorded 500,406 tourist arrivals in Maldives since the beginning of the year. The records also showed 92,103 tourists arrived in January, 96,882 tourists arrived in February, and 109,585 tourists arrived in March. While in April, 91,200 tourists arrived, in May, 64,613 tourists arrived, and in June, 46,023 tourists have arrived in the Maldives.
As per the Tourism Ministry, in 2021, the top source market for tourist arrival as of June 25 includes Russia at the top, followed by India, Germany, Ukraine, and the U.S.A. The Kazakhstan, UK, Romania, France, and the Czech Republic are also included in the top 10 source market for tourist arrival.
In a tweet celebrating the milestone achievement, the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom congratulated the industry partners and employees, health teams, related authorities, agencies, volunteers, and the people of the Maldives for all the support.
Since the border reopening, the Maldives has seen an increase in tourist arrivals from day to day. The Maldives aims to be a safe haven to the tourists amidst the pandemic with precautionary measures taken in every tourist establishment and an initiative in progress to vaccinate tourism industry workers.
