Vice leader of the opposition party, PNC, Adam Shareef Umar said that if the states continue more deals with India which takes over the independence of the governance of the state, it can lose the trust from the Maldivian people.

Referring to the tweet by HEP Ibrahim Solih highlighting the state of the Cargo-Ferry service between India and Maldives, Adam Shareef Umar said that the government should not make any deals without being transparent to the people of the Maldives, and for any such deals if the public stops believing, it will not continue to benefit the people.

He further said that the deals made with India have no transparency and could be affecting the solidarity and safety of the nation with such deals. He also said that it is concerning that any such deals may lead to a weak relationship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, in HEP Ibrahim Solih’s tweet, he thanked the PM of India, Mr Narendra Modi and the Indian Government for the Maldives-India Cargo Ferry Service going on its maiden voyage between Kulhudhuffushi, Malé and South India. President also said that the cargo ferry would further strengthen friendship between the two countries and bring greater prosperity to our communities.
