India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday further extended the ban on international flights till August 31.

The new announcement was made as the earlier announcement banning the international flights till July 31, came to an end. International passenger flights were suspended in India from March 23 last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the ban on scheduled overseas flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis, as per DGCA’s circular.

As per the civil aviation watchdog, cargo flights and flights under the bilateral air bubble pacts with select countries will continue to operate. India has air bubble pacts with 24 countries including the US, the UK, the UAE, Kenya, Bhutan, and France.
