The United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie Johnson have announced the birth of their second child, a "healthy baby girl".

Mrs. Johnson gave birth to the baby at a London hospital earlier on Thursday. A spokeswoman for the couple said that both mother and daughter are doing very well and thanked the NHS team for their care and support.

The couple moved in together when Boris Johnson became prime minister in 2019, becoming the first unmarried couple to openly live together at the British prime minister’s official London residence.

The couple married in May this year, and already have a son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, who was born in April 2020. The Johnsons had announced in July that they were expecting a second child in December.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has at least five other children from previous relationships, including four with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler, from whom he is divorced. The fifth child, a daughter, was the result of an extra-marital affair.
