A man in India has tested positive for monkeypox after showing symptoms.
The man who was admitted to a hospital in Kerala after showing symptoms of monkeypox has tested positive for the disease, Indian media reported. The 35-year-old man had entered the country from the UAE three days ago.
This is the first case of the disease reported in India.
The disease has been spreading in European countries but has not been declared an epidemic by the World Health Organization. The World Health Organization said it does not expect the spread of monkeys to become dangerous.
Meanwhile, over 6 000 cases of monkeypox and three deaths have been reported across 60 countries since the beginning of the year.
